Business in a box for start-ups

Accountants may be interested to learn that two cloud computing providers have got together and launched a “complete business start-up package” which they claim will enable new firms to begin online trading immediately.

@UK and Liquid Accounts have launched www.Cloud-start-up.com which boasts features such as a domain name, e-commerce website and a start-up version of Liquid Cloud’s online accounting software. Users will also have access to @UK’s e-commerce marketplace.

Matt Holmes, the MD of Liquid Accounts, said new start-ups must be able to handle their accounts from the outset, but many are unable to do so because they focus on the more exciting aspects of running a business, such as branding and products.

Holmes went on to say that this new offering was providing start-ups with a “business in a box” and an integral part of that is the easy to use online accounting system so that they can keep their accounts up-to-date and easily share them with their online accountant or bank manager.

The partnership has also confirmed that Cloud start-up packages would be offered to New Enterprise Allowance Scheme applicants.

Meanwhile, Xero has launched an iPhone application so that SMEs can manage their accounts while they’re on the move.

Called Xero Touch, it is a mobile version of Xero’s small business product and allows users to create and approve invoices and take photos of receipts and attach them electronically to expenses claims. The app also allows users to check the balance on accounts, view details of clients and add notes about meetings.
